The Céilí Fit TM tutor, Fionan Cogan, has been teaching classes since 1994 and has designed a course, specifically for primary school pupils, which primarily forms part of the PE curriculum.
When you Irish dance you repeat movements over and over again, working the same muscle groups, repetitively strengthening these muscles. With Irish dancing you get a great cardio workout. Your heart rate and blood flow increases, which burns off fat and improves your cardiovascular health.
The class is open to both beginners ans improvers and usually starts with some warm up exercises by going through the basic steps. This is followed by a few ceili dances to get you in to rythem easily. The classes are all about having fun, getting fit and learning at the same time. Watch a video
